| Achievements: | In Reece’s words, here is a history of the Top Fuel Dragster: “Ex USA then Cowin in Australia who ran the first 4second pass in this chassis, then Bob Sheppard campaigned her and now some turkey in NZ.” If he’s a turkey, what does that make us who follow his every move with keen interest. Besides, Nitro Fish sounds so much better than Nitro Turkey right!? Reece Fish needs no introduction, long before he lit that little flame under the New Zealand drag racing scene with the unveiling of the Top Fuel Dragster, he was already breaking records in the Chev (details below) in Top Street having come up through Super Sedan. In 2009 he reset the record for SS/AA to 8.276 @ 171.93mph and held it for three years solid. In 2012, Reece set the record for DD/TS to 7.631 @ 182.69mph which still stands to date. A season later, the Top Fuel Dragster arrived. And we all went a little nitro mad. It was the first time in over twenty years New Zealand had seen a Top Fuel Dragster on her soils. Not to be outdone, the Chevy Belair is by no means the poorer cousin. Formerly of Puppy Love fame, the ex-Berry/Chung drag racing in the 70’s heyday, it is the quickest and fastest street car in New Zealand. 2014 and 2015 NITRO Shootout Winner |
